Born in Italy in 1975, Gaia Furrer graduated in Cinema History at La Sapienza University in Rome. Furrer worked as a programmer and consultant for various film festivals and collaborated with Film Italia - the public agency in charge of promoting Italian cinema abroad - for national and international projects. Since 2003, she has worked as Head of Programming at the Noir Film Festival. She has been working at Giornate degli Autori/GDA (Venice Film Festival independent sidebar) as a programmer and Head of Programming since the very first edition. In 2020, she was appointed as the new Artistic Director of GDA.
