A screenwriter, director, film critic and writer, Jacques Fieschi was born in Algeria and spent his youth in Cannes, where he studied literature and became a film critic. Through this, he met the filmmakers André Téchiné and Maurice Pialat, and went on to write the screenplay for Pialat’s Police. He then collaborated on scripts for films by Claude Sautet, Nicole Garcia, Olivier Assayas, Anne Fontaine and Benoît Jacquot. He made his directorial debut in 2006 with the film La Californie.
