Born in 1982, Oliver Laxe grew up in France, Spain and Morocco. His first two feature-length films, both shot in Morocco, won awards at the Festival de Cannes: Todos vós sodes capitáns won the FIPRESCI Prize at the Directors' Fortnight in 2010 and Mimosas took the Grand Prix at the Semaine de la Critique in 2016. His third film, O que arde, shot in Galicia, received the Prix du Jury Un Certain Regard at Cannes in 2019.
