Amine Berrada was born in Casablanca and discovered his passion for cinema while filming the Atlantic Ocean, its waves, and its surfers with his father's camcorder. His fascination with cinema began with the works of Stanley Kubrick, Akira Kurosawa, and Martin Scorsese. He studied at La Fémis in Paris, graduating with a diploma in cinema in 2013. He has worked on several award-winning films. His credits include shooting Vladimir de Fontenay’s Sukkwan Island (2025), which was presented at the Sundance Film Festival and is slated for theatrical release in February 2026; Ramata-Toulaye Sy’s Banel & Adama (2023), which was selected for the Official Competition at the Festival de Cannes;  Kamal Lazraq’s Hounds (also 2023), which won the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at Cannes. Most recently, he shot Sara Ishaq’s The Station and Fateme Ahmadi’s Daughter of Eden. Renowned for his ability to adapt to a variety of styles, in 2021 he won the Best Photography prize at the Festival International du Film Francophone de Namur for Sy’s Astel.
