Nadia Ben Rachid began her editing career in 1985. She worked with Roman Polanski on the films Pirates, Frantic and Bitter Moon, and with Claude Berri on Germinal and Uranus. She has edited many critically acclaimed films, and has worked on numerous documentaries, among them Immigrant Memories, My Neighbour, My Killer, Les Prisonniers de Beckett and Mr Gay Syria. In 2015, she was invited to become a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and won the César Award for Best Editing for Abderrahmane Sissako’s Timbuktu. Ben Rachid describes editing as a way of shaping a director’s ideas in a fluid and harmonious form. Her editing style has been described as “agile” by the New Statesman.
