Mentoring & Prizes

Consultations

Projects and films participating in the Atlas Workshops benefit from tailor-made support through one-to-one or group consultation according to their individual needs and current stage of production.

The themes are diverse, from scriptwriting to editing, passing through financing and production strategy, film scores, poster design, distribution and sales (among many others).

For the 7th edition, we invited 28 consultants and experts and 4 acting mentors.

Atlas Distribution Awards

Given the anticipation of professionals attending the Marrakech International Film Festival and in light of the enthusiastic response to the launch of the first Atlas Distribution Awards in 2023, the Atlas Workshops is keen to make the scheme permanent. Unique in Morocco and the Arab and African countries, these awards support circulation of films in these territories as well as theatrical distribution of films by filmmakers from the region that are selected for the Festival.

The Atlas Distribution Awards are cash prizes presented to the distributors of the winning films to support release strategies in at least two Arab or African countries, with a minimum one week’s programming and seven screenings per week. Films directed by Moroccan filmmakers may apply with plans for a single theatrical release in Morocco, but special consideration is given to entries presenting a dual release strategy, in Morocco and a second Arab or African country.
