Ghassan Salhab was born in 1958 in Dakar, Senegal. In addition to making his own films, he collaborates on various scenarios and teaches film in Lebanon. He has directed eight feature films: Beyrouth Fantôme, Terra Incognita, The Last Man, 1958, The Mountain, The Valley, An Open Rose/Warda and The River, recently completed… in addition to numerous “essays”, and different “video works”, including Le Voyage immobile (co- directed with Mohamed Soueid, 2018), and Chinese ink, (Posthumous)… In 2016, he was a DAAD (Berlin) guest-resident. The La Rochelle International Film Festival, Journées Cinématographiques de Carthage and the Cinémathèque québécoise have held tributes to his work. He has also published a book, Fragments du Livre du naufrage (2012, Amers Editions) as well as texts and articles in various magazines.
